Homework - Spring Term
Here are some ideas and activities that you can do with your child to support their learning in school.
Literacy
- Reception children should read their library books and phonics book each day (ditties are paper forms of reading books)
- Practise their phonic sounds with them using the little green book and any phonics sheets that are sent home.
- Read our Talk for Writing books together - Jack and the Beanstalk, Handa's Surprise
- Play a phonics game from the websites given (Useful website links)
- Go to the library to find books that match our topic 'Growing'.
Maths
- Counting small amounts of objects or toys that can be picked up (to 10)
- Writing numbers in different media such as sand, shaving foam or in chalk outside
- Recognising amounts without counting (dice games/dominoes) etc
- Sharing small amounts (toys, fruit, sweets) between themselves and one other person
- Knowing simple 2D shape names - square, triangle, circle, rectangle/oblong and some 3D shapes - cube, cone, pyramid, sphere
- Knowing and naming colours
- Talk about the difference in sizes of things that they can see.
- Make and describe a simple pattern
- Know their number bonds to five by finding its parts.
Topic - Growing
- Plant flowers and watch them grow
- Visit a farm and see animals and their young
- Noticing seasons as they change during spring
- Talk about trees and flowers around them and name simple parts (stem, petal, leaves etc)
