Autumn 2
Writing
In English, we will be exploring a range of different texts and developing our reading and writing skills. The children will practise writing simple sentences linked to the stories and texts we read. We will focus on using capital letters at the beginning of sentences and full stops at the end, helping the children to become confident and independent writers.

Religious Education (R.E.) –

In RE, we will be learning about Prophecy and Promise and exploring the Christmas story. The children will discover that the Bible is a special book for Christians, which teaches them about God and His love for everyone. We will learn about the Annunciation, when the Angel Gabriel visited Mary and she said ‘Yes’ to God's plan, and why Mary is so important to Christians. The children will explore the events of the Christmas story in the correct order, from the Angel Gabriel's visit to Mary through to the visit of the shepherds. We will also learn how the first words of the Hail Mary prayer link to the Angel Gabriel's message. Through these stories, the children will begin to understand how Christmas reminds Christians of God's love for the world through the gift of His Son, Jesus.
Maths

In Maths, we will be focusing on numbers 0 to 10, helping the children to recognise, count, order and understand these important numbers. We will also be exploring 2D and 3D shapes through fun, practical activities, where children will learn to identify, make, break apart and manipulate different shapes. This will help to develop their confidence with shapes, patterns and spatial awareness. We will also be exploring additive structures, helping children to understand how numbers can be combined and separated through simple addition and subtraction activities.

History- Local History
In History, we will be learning about our local area of Darlaston and how it has changed over time. The children will explore important local landmarks, people and industries, discovering what life was like in the past and how it compares to life today. This will help them to develop an understanding of their local community and a sense of pride in where they live.

Science – The Human Body
In Science, we will be learning about the human body. The children will explore and identify different body parts, including the head, arms, legs, hands, feet, eyes, ears, nose and mouth. We will discover how each body part helps us in our everyday
lives, such as seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting, touching and moving. This will help the children to develop a better understanding of their bodies, how they work and how we grow.

Physical Education (P.E.)
In PE this half term, children will take part in two exciting units: Dance and Dodgeball. In Dance, they will explore different movements, rhythms and sequences, developing their coordination, creativity and ability to perform individually and as part of a group. In Dodgeball, children will develop their throwing, catching and dodging skills, while learning about teamwork, communication and following rules. Both units will encourage children to build confidence, develop their physical skills and enjoy being active
Children will need their PE kit in school on Wednesday and Thursday.
