Religious Education (R.E.) –
Lent- This unit is designed to develop the children’s knowledge and understanding of Lent as a time of change and of growing to be more like Jesus by following his example. In the unit the children will explore various aspects of Jesus’ message and ways in which Christians can apply these to real life situations.
Forgiveness- This unit is designed to develop the children’s knowledge and understanding of the importance of forgiveness as a gift we receive and as a way that we can show love to others. The unit will also explore the choices that children make, that these can be good or bad and the consequences that arise from them. The unit will also develop the children’s understanding of the need to say sorry when bad choices are made.
Holy Week- This unit is designed to develop the children’s knowledge and understanding of the important events of Holy Week and how they tell of the last days of Jesus’ life on earth. The unit focuses on Palm Sunday, the Last Supper and the Stations of the Cross.
Maths – Mathematics (Number and Place Value)
In maths, children develop their understanding of numbers from 0–20, using them in a range of everyday contexts. They learn how numbers 11–19 are made by combining tens and ones, helping them build strong number sense. Children are also introduced to unitising through coin recognition and begin counting in 2s, 5s and 10s to support early money and multiplication skills.
History- Explorers and Adventurers
In this unit, children learn about explorers and adventurers from the past and present. They find out why people explore, where explorers travelled, and what they discovered. Through stories, maps, and simple comparisons, children learn about different places in the world and the challenges explorers faced. The unit encourages curiosity, bravery, and an interest in the wider world. | Science – Seasonal Changes – Spring and Summer
In this unit, children learn how the seasons change, focusing on spring and summer. They explore what the weather is like, how plants grow and change, and how animals and people behave differently in warmer months. Children observe signs of spring such as new flowers and baby animals, and signs of summer such as longer days and warmer weather. They also learn how to stay safe in the sun and how seasonal changes affect everyday life. |
