Autumn 1
Religious Education (R.E.) –
Creation - This unit focuses on the theme of Creation. The unit starts by looking at the world in which we live and the variety of things in it. The children will have the opportunity to explore their ideas as to where and how these were created. They should hear a variety of creation stories as well as what is known scientifically, thinking about life-cycles. The Genesis story of creation is shared by Jews and Christians. This will lead into the Jewish weekly celebration of Shabbat and the Christian thanksgiving festival of Harvest. The unit ends with pupils considering their own views and responses to the origin of the Earth and their responsibilities in relation to what the Earth provides.
Families- This unit is designed to develop the children’s knowledge and understanding of what it means to belong to, and celebrate as, a family. The unit will focus on the Mass, the stories of the Presentation and Finding of Jesus in the Temple and the Wedding Feast at Cana as important celebrations in the life of the Church and Jesus.
Writing
In our English lessons, we will read different texts and then write simple sentences about them. Each sentence will begin with a capital letter and end with a full stop.
Maths
In maths, we will be learning to count forwards and backwards up to 100, recognising the patterns in numbers and using number tracks, charts, and games to help us. We will practise reading, writing, and ordering numbers, as well as spotting missing numbers in a sequence. After this, we will move on to number compositions within 5 and 10. This means exploring the different ways we can make these numbers, such as 3 + 2 = 5 or 7 + 3 = 10. We will use objects, pictures, and number sentences to help us understand how numbers can be built and broken apart in different ways.
Spelling, Punctuation & Grammar
This half term, we will be focusing on our capital letters and full stops.

British Values- Our lessons and daily routines will promote the key British Values of:
Democracy – listening to each other’s ideas and making fair choices.
Rule of Law – understanding why rules are important and following them.
Individual Liberty – making safe choices and developing independence.
Mutual Respect and Tolerance – showing respect for others, even if they have different beliefs or ways of life.
Our Mission- Our mission is to provide a safe, supportive, and inspiring learning environment where every child can grow in confidence, develop new skills, and achieve their very best. We aim to encourage curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning that children will carry with them throughout their lives.
Ready, Respectful and Safe - This is our school’s key expectation and underpins everything we do: Ready – coming to school prepared to learn, with a positive attitude. Respectful – treating others kindly, listening carefully, and valuing differences. Safe – making sensible choices to keep ourselves and others safe, both in and out of school.
