Computing

At St Joseph's, we love Computing and all our children have access to high quality computing equipment that is continually being developed to enable our children to be skilled in the digital world.

Our Curriculum is evolving as we move from the Purple Mash scheme of work towards the Teach Computing scheme of work which uses real world software and hardware to fulfil the requirements of the National Curriculum.

Each class covers 1 unit on Computer Systems, 2 units of Media, 1 unit of Data Handling and 2 units of Programming across Key Stage One and Key Stage 2. In EYFS, children are given opportunities to use the language of computing and experience different types of Hardware and Software as part of their learning in all aspects of the Curriculum.

Online Safety is embedded within all strands of the curriculum as well as being supported by our PSHE work.
