Year 4 National Curriculum

In Year 4, the children will study :

Autumn 1 - Sound -  The children will be learning about how sound is made and recognise how sound travels to the ear. Using a variety of investigations, they will find patterns between the pitch of a sound, find patterns between the volume of a sound and recognise that sounds get fainter as the distance from the sound source increases. They will make their own string telephones and complete a STEM activity where the children will make their own musical instruments. They will be learning about the scientist Alexander Graham Bell.

Autumn 2 - States of Matter - The children will be looking at solids, liquids and  gases and observe what happens to materials when they are heated or cooled. Children will also learn about the water cycles and the parts played by  evaporation and condensation.
