Year 1 children took the lead in a special prayer and liturgy for the class. They gathered everyone together to share the story of The Lost Sheep, guiding their friends in a thoughtful reflection. To close, the prayer leaders invited everyone to join in singing a hymn together as a whole class. Well done to our wonderful young liturgy leaders!
A group of children in Year 5 planned, led and evaluated a reflective and reverent Prayer & Liturgy service for their class. They chose to have their classmates standing around the room focussing on the focal point, a Crucifix which was surrounded by lights and candles. Their theme for the prayer and liturgy was Jesus the Light of the World and peace. The Liturgy Leaders chose to read and perform the Parable of Jesus calming the storm to demonstrate how Jesus brings us peace. Their task was to sing the hymn 'Light of the World' and to colour a candle reflecting on how Jesus brings us peace and how we can bring peace to others. The rest of the class were given a 'Go Forth' message to think about how they can bring peace and light to others.
Nursery learnt about the importance of Remembrance Day in their own prayer and liturgy service. They had a very peaceful prayer and liturgy time where they reflected and prayed for the people who had fought for us during the war and listened to the last post. They made paper poppies and finger paint poppies to help them remember all of the soldiers who had died. The children helped their teacher to get ready for the liturgy by selecting the red prayer cloth, placing leaves and a wreath on their focal point.
Year 2 prayer leaders planned and led the class in a beautiful liturgy this with a focus on Remembrance Day. The children took part in a reflection as well as spontaneous prayer.
Year 6 Liturgy Leaders planned, led and evaluated a reverent prayer and liturgy service today. They spent time in reflective prayer thinking about people who have died. They offered their prayers and intentions to God. As part of their liturgy, they evaluated their liturgy thinking about what they would do differently next time.
