Year 6

In Art, Year 6 have been learning about an artist called Shepard Fairey. He is an activist artist who uses his work to campaign for things he wants to change. The children enjoyed learning about his different styles of work and how he uses stencils and layering to add to his designs. The children then designed their own symbols for things they cared about onto a polystyrene tile. This was followed up at a workshop at St Thomas More where the children used newspapers, images and magazine cutttings to create a picture with layers. They added their stencil using rollers and ink and different painting techniques. The children produced fabulous pieces of artwork and were excellently behaved. Well done Year 6.

Year 6 have had a fabulous art day learning about the artist Lubaina Himid. They researched her art work and produced a double page spread about her art techniques. They also learnt about the use of scaling images to a larger view, the use of tones and tints to show emotions with colour and how to make 2d drawings to 3d models. The children made and painted their own models of themselves and will make these stand up. They had an amazing day.
