Remembrance

Our whole school prayers were led reverently by Year 6 and then we sang the beautiful song 'We will remember' by Mike Stanley.

One Life Music

Yesterday we enjoyed a fantastic retreat day thanks to Emily & Dan of One Life Music. It was a day full of smiles, singing, sign language, prayer, reflection and crafts around the theme 'Let all Creation Sing'. We praised God for the wonders of His creation and thought about the important roles we have in caring for it.

Black History Month Music and Dance

The children at St Josephs don't just love to play music they also love to listen to music from different genres and cultures so as part of our learning to celebrate Black History Month, the children from Years 2 - 6 have enjoyed taking part in music and dance workshops. The children learned that Xaymaca is the indigenous land of Jamaica, which was later inhibited by Ghanaian West Africans and Spanish. Using traditional movements to music and live percussion, they found out some background about Taino (the indigenous tribe of Jamaica) and how the migration of people influenced the dance and music in the region of the Caribbean.

Bollywood Music and Dance Workshop

The children at St Josephs have had a wonderful first half term rich in music and culture. To end the first half term, the children enjoyed another music and dance workshop, this time in the style of Bollywood! They learnt a little about this style of musical theatre which is so popular in the Indian Film industry then enjoyed dancing in a telling a story using movements, hand gestures and facial expressions. The children were brilliant and thoroughly enjoyed it.
