PE and Sport Premium

At St Joseph's we provide high-quality physical education which enables children to develop physical fitness and contributes to their mental wellbeing through a balanced and embedded curriculum. All pupils follow a programme which develops core areas of the PE curriculum.  Games, gymnastics and dance form part of the P.E. experiences for the children. Our pupils revisit different skills and sports throughout the school.

We also offer extra-curricular sporting activities during lunchtime and through after school  clubs. Children are regularly given opportunities to attend competitions across the borough for a range of different sporting activities and games. These can be found on our sporting achievements page.

Please see the long term plan for more information on the sports covered in each term and year group.

The Government has been allocated a budget for schools to provide new, substantial primary school sport funding. This funding is being jointly provided by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport, and will see money going directly to primary school Headteachers to spend on improving the quality of sport and PE for all their children.

The purpose of the funding is that schools will have to spend the sport funding in improving their provision of PE and sport, but they will have the freedom to choose how they do this.

Read more about the amount of money we will get through this funding, and how we plan to spend the money in the report below:
