Black History Month Dance Workshops

As part of our learning to celebrate Black History Month, the children from Years 2 - 6 have enjoyed taking part in Dance workshops. The children learned that Xaymaca is the indigenous land of Jamaica, which was later inhibited by Ghanaian West Africans and Spanish. Using traditional movements to music and live percussion, they found out some background about Taino (the indigenous tribe of Jamaica) and how the migration of people influenced the dance and music in the region of the Caribbean.
