PSHE Y5 CST
In PSHE, Year 5 have been thinking about ways to improve our local area for the community. They were thinking about the Catholic Social Teaching values: Family and Community and Option for the Poor and Vulnerable in particular, and ways they could put their faith into action. As a class, they decided that they wanted to focus on the needs of disabled residents and came up with ideas such as accessible park equipment, sensory areas, wider doors in public spaces, smooth pathways, more ramps and non-verbal communication boards so that everyone can feel part of the community and are able to communicate their needs. They then wrote letters to Walsall Council to put their suggestions to them for ways to improve Darlaston. Their letters were beautifully written and will be sent to the council for them to read.
