This morning, some of the Year 1 children led our prayer session, reflecting on those living in poverty and the importance of spreading hope. As part of this, they invited the class to write short prayers on post-it notes about hope and how we can share it in our world. The children then placed their prayers onto our world to symbolically spread their messages. Well done, Year 1—what a beautiful and thoughtful gesture!

This week in Maths, Year 1 used various manipulatives to explore the numbers 6 to 10. Well done, Year 1!

This afternoon, some of our Year 1 children led a heartfelt and inspiring Prayer and Liturgy service centered around the theme of kindness. They shared the story of The Good Samaritan, reflecting on its meaning and discussing how it makes us feel. As part of their thoughtful preparation, the children organised a special activity: each child drew a heart and then symbolically shared their love by giving it to someone else in their class. It was a truly touching and meaningful experience for everyone involved.

This week, Year 1 has been exploring the Christmas story. As part of their learning, the children worked in groups to create freeze frames depicting scenes from the story. Can you guess which moments they’ve portrayed?

Shout out for Year 1 from the Black Country Carol Service!

This morning, some of our Year 1 children took the lead in a special prayer and liturgy for the class. They gathered everyone together to share the story of The Lost Sheep, guiding their friends in a thoughtful reflection. To close, the prayer leaders invited everyone to join in singing a hymn together as a whole class. Well done to our wonderful young leaders! 🙏🌟

In Maths, Year 1 have been busy exploring the number 6! Today, the children took their learning outside to collect 6 items each. When they returned, they practiced partitioning the number 6 into two parts, discovering different ways to make 6. Great job, Year 1! 👏🌟

Today in Year 1, we dove into the traditions of Diwali! The children had a fantastic time working in small groups to create their own vibrant rangoli patterns. ✨ Super work Year 1!
