Spring 2 Learning
Take a look at some of our wonderful learning opportunities this half term.
RE Learning
This half term we have covered the topics of Lent and Holy week. Take a look at some of our learning.
World Book Day - Thursday 6th March
Our day began with a mystery book assembly. We had a host of fantastic activities throughout our day including a character hunt, everybody stop and read time, story role play and art. To finish off our exciting day we had a story with another teacher and some yummy hot chocolate.
Farm on Wheels- Wednesday 12th March
What a fantastic treat Reception have had today with a visit from Stella and her animals from the Farm on Wheels. The children were able to able to share all off the things they have learnt so far in our topic such as the names of the animals and their babies. They had the opportunity to stroke Sprinkle and Honey the goats. They were so friendly but more interested in eating the grass than saying hello. Then we were able to feed Timmy the lamb his breakfast bottle of milk. We couldn't believe how quickly he drank. Then we saw the hens and the ducks and compared them to the tiny ducklings and chicks that we hatched just a week ago. After that we had a lovely stroke of Yang the guinea pig who was very cuddly. Reception were well behaved and really impressed us with all that they had remembered.
Ducklings and Chicks- February
What an amazing experience we had. Our ducklings arrived and hatched in just one day! We sadly missed the hatching but enjoyed imagining what they looked like inside the egg and watching a time lapse of an egg hatching last year.
The ducklings were super cute and were soon given the names - Spike, Jazz, Charlie and Pingu (Can you remember which ones they are?)
We became the most popular class as the whole school wanted to see them. They grew very quickly and enjoyed joining in our lessons by looking through the cage bars and making lots of noise. Mrs Corfield spent so much time cleaning them out and giving them fresh food and water.
We were sad to see them and the chicks go but we knew that they were too big to live in our classroom much longer. We hope to get some photos from the farm very soon.
