Maths

In our maths lessons this half term we are learning about:

  • Money 
  • Fractions
  • Time

 

RE

 

In RE this half term we will be learning about:

Easter -  Children will develop their knowledge and understanding of the stories of Easter from the New Testament and of the symbols the Church uses to celebrate the Season. 

 

Pentecost - Children will understand of the story of Pentecost and of the activity and presence of the Holy Spirit. We will learn about how Pentecost is celebrated in the Church and Confirmation being the Sacrament of the Holy Spirit.

 

   

 

Science

 

Our Science unit for this half term is ‘Mixing and Making’. Children will identify solids, liquids and gasses. They will explore what a mixture is a carry out a variety of experiments. Children will also identify changes that are reversible and irreversible.

 

 

Geography

In Geography this half term we are learning all about 'Villages, Town and Cities'. We will be finding out about where people live and exploring the different features of settlements. We will then look at the land use within a city and think about some advantages and disadvantages of living in different settlements. 

 

 

Music 

 

This half term children will be learning how to play the ukuleles and develop a greater understanding of the different elements of music making.  

 

 

Computing 

 

During this half term, our computing unit is ‘Creating Media – Digital Music’. Children will explore how music can make them think and feel. They will make patterns and use those patterns to make music with both percussion instruments and digital tools. Children will also create different rhythms and tunes, using the movement of animals for inspiration.

 

Art and Design 

Children will explore architecture during our unit ‘Be an Architect’. We will start with an exploration of architects and some of the ways they work, and then go on to create their own architectural model. 

 

 

PSHE

 

During PSHE this half term we will be focusing on:

  • The Holy Trinity
  • Who our neighbours are and how we should treat others
  • Economic wellbeing
  • Catholic Social Teaching - Dignity of work & the rights of workers/ Vocations
  • Keeping safe online 

 

PE 

 

In PE this half term, children will be going swimming on Tuesday afternoons. Please have your swimming kit in school on this day.

Children will also be studying different ball games. They will build on skills developed earlier the year, throwing, catching and kicking a ball, to play a variety of games as part of a team.
