  • Pilgrims of Hope

    Inspired by our Jubilee retreat day, representatives of CAFOD Club, Mini Vinnies and KS2 Liturgy Leaders met today to reflect on the three things we have been called to do this Jubilee year-prayer, social action and fundraising. They thought about what we could do over this year as a school community.

  • Celebrating Chinese New Year in Reception Class!

    Today, our lovely Reception class immersed themselves in the vibrant traditions of Chinese New Year! The children had a fantastic day filled with exciting activities that brought the story to life.

    They kick-started the celebrations by crafting beautiful Chinese lanterns and decorating their very own fans for a dance in the afternoon. The creativity and enthusiasm were simply remarkable!

    Not only did they enjoy the arts and crafts, but they also indulged in a tasting session of delicious Chinese foods! It was a delightful experience for everyone.

    The story tray was a also a big hit, with the little ones using masks to narrate their own versions of the tale, sparking their imaginations and storytelling skills!

    We are so proud of our Reception class for embracing this wonderful cultural celebration. Happy Chinese New Year!

  • Sparks of Curiosity: Year 4's Science Adventure!

    Today, our fantastic Year 4 students had great fun diving into the world of circuits during their Science lesson! They experimented with bulbs, buzzers, and motors, discovering the magic of how to create a completed circuit.

    A huge shoutout to Year 4 for your sensible and enthusiastic exploration with electrical components! Your curiosity and teamwork truly lit up the classroom!

  • Year Four Drama

    Year 4 have been learning about God choosing David to be King in the Old Testament. The children created dramas to act out the story of Samuel meeting Jesse and choosing one of his sons to be King.

  • Year Five Art morning at St Thomas More

    A big thank you Mrs Bowen and the Art Department at St Thomas More Catholic School, Willenhall for supporting us with our Art curriculum. Year 5 had a fabulous morning there today, using watercolour techniques to create different textures on a landscape image in the style of Vanessa Gardiner, who they have been learning about in school.

  • Year 6 had an exciting day at Blists Hill Victorian Town in Telford.

    Year 6 had an exciting day at Blists Hill Victorian Town in Telford. They enjoyed the opportunity to explore the Victorian town, visiting various shops and engaging with historical figures, including a policeman, banker, and sweet shop owner.

    The pupils enjoyed purchasing authentic Victorian sweetsand learning lots of fascinating facts throughout their visit.

    In the afternoon, they participated in a Victorian school experience, dressed in period costumes and taking part in lessons. They practised handwriting, spelling, and times tables, immersing themselves in the educational practices of the era.

    We are proud to report that the children displayed exemplary behaviour, receiving praise from museum staff for their manners. Well done, Year 6! You have gained valuable knowledge that will greatly enhance your Victorian topic in class.

  • Jubilee Year of Hope Launch Day

    Today we were extremely lucky to launch the Year of the Jubilee: Pilgrims of Hope, with many schools from across the Archdiocese of Birmingham.

    Together at St Joseph's pupils and staff celebrated this special event. We had important messages from Archbishop Bernard and joined Bishop Timothy in prayer. During this year we are called to prayer, social action and fundraising.

  • Year 3 Art Day

    Year 3 Art Day, was super success!

    They learned about a famous French artist called Henri Matisse and looked at some of his art work. Inspired Year Three then watched a video about his work that was on display at the Tate Gallery in London. The children then wrote a fact file of information about him, his life and his work.

    They then worked in groups to create a piece of work inspired by Egyptian art.

    In the afternoon the children independently created their own collage using coloured paper to show a piece of Egyptian art in a very different way!
