  • Harvest KS1 Celebration of the Word

    Well done to our brilliant Year Two children who delivered a super harvest celebration of the word. They were joined by Nursery, Reception and Year One who sang beautifully. It was a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the meaning of Harvest, God's wonderful creation and giving thanks. Thank you to the parents who came and supported the children.

  • PSHE Y5 CST

    In PSHE, Year 5 have been thinking about ways to improve our local area for the community. They were thinking about the Catholic Social Teaching values: Family and Community and Option for the Poor and Vulnerable in particular, and ways they could put their faith into action. As a class, they decided that they wanted to focus on the needs of disabled residents and came up with ideas such as accessible park equipment, sensory areas, wider doors in public spaces, smooth pathways, more ramps and non-verbal communication boards so that everyone can feel part of the community and are able to communicate their needs. They then wrote letters to Walsall Council to put their suggestions to them for ways to improve Darlaston. Their letters were beautifully written and will be sent to the council for them to read.

  • Walsall School Games Benchball

    Some children in year 5 and 6 have represented St Joseph’s in a Walsall school games benchball tournament this evening. They demonstrated many of the values of the school games such as determination, teamwork and enthusiasm during the competition and even managed to win every match. Well done!

  • Year 6 Writing Parent Workshop

    Year 6 invited Parents and Grandparents into their English lesson today. They highlighted the key features of a newspaper and really enjoyed the lesson. Well done and thank you to the parents and grandparents who came.

  • "Safer Pedestrians"

    This morning Year 3 welcomed instructors from Walsall Council to give us some experience to become "Safer Pedestrians".

    In small groups, Mrs Rasool accompanied the instructors to support the children's road safety and awareness. This will help their independence when travelling the local area by foot safely!

    Some amazing feedback from the instructors detailing the children's listening, understanding and engagement in the morning! Well done everyone - very proud Year 3 team!

  • Year 2's Creative Art Day!

    Year 2's Creative Art Day!

    Last week, our Year 2 students had an absolutely spectacular Art Day! They ventured into the playground, armed with creativity and a collection of natural materials, to create stunning works of art.

    From colourful leaf collages to intricate twig sculptures, the children showed off their artistic flair while enjoying the beauty of nature all around them. It was a wonderful opportunity for them to express themselves and collaborate with their classmates.

  • Year 6 Art Day

    On Wednesday Year 6 had an amazing art day!

    They learnt all about the artist Lubaina Himid and looked at her 2D and 3D pieces of art.

    She is from Zanzibar and uses these inspirations in many of her pieces of work.

    Throughout the day, the children completed a double page spread on the artist, looked at the skill of scaling, looked at tones and tints and planned a 2D piece of art. They then turned this into a 3D piece of work , based on the inspiration of Lubaini Himid's 3D walking art gallery.

    The children did an amazing job and really enjoyed the day!

  • Year 6 Poetry Day

    On Friday, Year 6 took part in Poetry Day.

    Their poem was called skateboarding and they worked as a class and in small groups to learn and perform the poem.

    They also made lots of props / art work linked to their poem. They had a fabulous day and worked well as a class. Well done Year 6!

  • School Council launched their ' Move More campaign'.

    Last week, School Council launched their ' Move More campaign'.

    In October, children are encouraged to walk to school more and to collect a leaf on their journey to school. By walking to school we are caring and looking after God's creation.

    Each class are collecting leaves and school council are adding them everyday to their trees.

    At the end of the month, we will see which class has collected the most leaves and walked to school the most to win a prize!

    Year 3 Poetry Day: A Celebration of Words and Signs!

    On Friday, our talented Year 3 students showcased their incredible poetry skills, combining beautiful words with the expressive power of British Sign Language!

    Not only did they share their poem, but they'll also communicated their verses through sign language, enhancing our understanding and appreciation of diverse forms of expression.
