The children thoroughly enjoyed working with visual artist, Maral Mamaghanzi, a deaf artist who was accompanied by a British Sign Language interpreter. Some of the children's artwork is being collected by Birmingham Hippodrome to be added to their virtual display.  The children are really looking forward to visiting the Van Gogh Alive exhibition at the Hippodrome soon.

At the end of this year's Anti-Bullying Week, we all came to school wearing odd socks. We celebrated our differences and remembered that we are all created and loved by God. We know what to do if we, or someone we know is being bullied. At St Joseph's, we pledge to stand up against bullying!

  • British Museum Virtual Visit

Fri 13 Nov 2020 Mrs Hannett
As part of their work in History, Year Three enjoyed a virtual visit to the British Museum in London today. They saw a variety of prehistoric artefacts and had fun taking part in a quiz about prehistoric Britain. The tour guide was very impressed by their knowledge of life in the Stone Age and their understanding of how archeologists use artefacts to help them learn about the past.
  • Remembrance Day 2020

Wed 11 Nov 2020 Mrs Hannett

The children have been busy painting poppies for the front of the school to remember all those who lost their lives in war.

They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old:

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning

    We will remember them.

  • Key Stage 2 Virtual Reality

Mon 09 Nov 2020 Mrs Hannett

We may not be able to go on school visits at the moment to enhance our learning but pupils in our Key Stage Two classes had a fantastic Virtual Reality experience last week, thanks to Prime VR.

Year 3 pupils travelled back in time to visit a Stone Age village and Stonehenge; Year 4 & 5 visited the Wonders of the World and Year 6 saw the impact of climate change around the world. In the words of Oliver, Year 6, 'It was AMAZING!'
