STEM Workshop - Electric vehicles
Fri 17 Mar 2023Year 5 & 6 enjoyed a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths) workshop this week. They co-operated well with one another to design and build electric vehicles! Well done children.

Y1 learn about trees in Science
Thu 16 Mar 2023In Science today, Year One were learning about evergreen and deciduous trees. The children found out that evergreen trees keep their leaves all year round, whereas deciduous trees lose their leaves in the Autumn time. To demonstrate this, one group of children pretended to be the evergreen trees and the other group were deciduous trees who lost their leaves when Autumn came. Well done Year 1!

Y5 Family learning workshop
Thu 16 Mar 2023Year 5 had a lovely afternoon today working with their parents creating Tudor shields. A big thank you to all the parents who came along to work with the children, we hope you enjoyed yourselves too!

Y2 Family learning workshop
Thu 16 Mar 2023During Year Two's workshop yesterday, the children worked alongside their parents to practice their maths skills which included measuring and fractions. Children designed and made a layered yoghurt fruit pot which all looked and smelt delicious!They then designed a label for their pudding pot and completed some food maths questions.
Everyone had a great time and worked extremely hard. Well done Year 2 and thank you to all the parents who attended!

Guide Dog visit to EYFS
Tue 07 Mar 2023Our Early Years pupils were very excited to meet a very special dog and her owner this morning. Flora is a guide dog and works hard to help Carol to get around.
The children asked some fantastic questions and found out lots about about the work of guide dogs.

Year 1 drama for writing
Tue 07 Mar 2023In English today, Year 1 used their drama skills to turn our playground into a magical forest. As a whole class, they imagined they were in a mysterious forest and used adjectives to describe the setting. They will be using our trip to the 'forest' in their writing tomorrow.

Celebrating World Book Day at St. Joseph's
Fri 03 Mar 2023World Book Day was lots of fun in school today! The children looked amazing in their costumes - a HUGE thank you to all our parents for supporting this event!
Each class chose a different Traditional Tale to focus on for World Book Day. During the day children took part in a range of exciting activities linked to their book.
The whole school also took part in a competition to design a new front cover and write a blurb for their class Traditional Tale. The winners from each class will be announced in assembly next Friday and will each receive a gold coin to choose a book from the vending machine!

EYFS & KS1 Drama Workshops

KS2 Drama Workshops - The Little Match Girl
Thu 02 Mar 2023As part of our celebrations for World Book Day, Key Stage 2 pupils enjoyed a drama workshop based on the story 'The Little Match Girl'. The children created various freeze frames from the book. Well done children!

Year 5 webinar with Helen Sharman - Britain's First Astronaut in Space
Thu 02 Mar 2023Year 5 had the privilege of taking part in a webinar with Helen Sharman, the first British Astronaut in Space this afternoon. They are looking forward to learning even more about space in the summer term.
