  • Nursery and Reception Advent Stay and Pray

    Fri 06 Dec 2024

To help guide us throughout our Advent journey, Nursery and Reception prepared a Stay and Pray liturgy to help us remind us to be hopeful and prepare for the birth of Christ and Jesus’ second coming. Parents were welcomed into our school to share this journey with us. Throughout the liturgy the children reverently reflected on what Father Craig had told us in his homily to be actively waiting. The Reception Liturgy Leaders were fabulous in organising the prayer focus and leading us in prayer.

They looked at existing products, researched famous designers such as Louis Vuitton and designed their own bags. The children then spent the afternoon sewing and making their own tote bags to use when they go shopping. There were some excellent designs - we may even have the next fashion designer of the future! Well done Year 6, sewing can be very tricky but you all worked really hard.

  • Whole School Mass

    Tue 03 Dec 2024

This afternoon we gathered in the school hall to celebrate a lovely Advent Mass together.

During his Homily, Fr Craig spoke to us about this special time of waiting as a time of being active in our preparations to celebrate the birth of Jesus at Christmas.

The children suggested some great examples of the ways they can be active while they wait- sharing love and kindness with others, praying, supporting those in need and counting down using our Advent wreaths and calendars.

Fr Craig also blessed the beautiful Advent wreaths made by each class to help them with this important time of preparation and waiting.

During the afternoon, St Andrew’s house gathered together and took part in some Scottish dancing. They also designed their own tartan and coloured the national flower - a thistle. Every class also had a special Scottish treat - shortbread! All the children were amazing and did St Andrew’s house proud!

Year 5's assembly this morning was all about space and the solar system. Well done, Year 5, you showed real maturity preparing for, and delivering, this assembly. You took it extremely seriously and delivered it clearly and enthusiastically.
