English:

Today we are going to continue our learning on Growing and Planting. Our key text this week is The Tiny Seed.

I would like you to watch the video below which will read the story to you.

The Tiny Seed by Eric Carle || An INSPIRING Adventure! [CC] - YouTube

When you have listened to and read the story, I would like you to focus on the four seasons of the year that the seed travels through – autumn, winter, spring and summer. I want you to split your page into four and draw a couple of pictures of what happens in each season.

For example, autumn – trees lose their leaves, winter – snow falls and we can make snowmen, spring – flowers start to grow and summer – we have lots of sunshine and go on holiday!

See if you can write labels to describe what happens in each season.

Phonics:

Please watch the RWI video clips below about how to read Green Word Time 1.6 words and how to spell them for writing. We have placed an exercise book in your home learning packs, which will help you to write the words in so you can see your progress and hard work.

Maths:

Please watch the Cbeebies video clip about number 14. (See link below)

https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m00029tp/numberblocks-series-3-fourteen

I would like you to have a go at writing the number 14, using the number rhymes - a line down and it's done (1), down the back, along the seat, down the arm and leg (4).

Then I would like you to have a go at making the number 14 in different ways, e.g. 13 + 1 = 14, 10 + 4 = 14, 7 + 7 = 14 etc. Can you put this into a part-whole model to show the whole number (14) and then the two numbers/parts it can be broken into (10+4 etc.)

I would also like you to log onto Numbots (See link below) and have a go at playing in Story Mode. This is a great online game for you to practice your counting, addition and subtraction skills!

RE:

Today in RE, I would like you to explore the features of a Church. I would like you to look through the power point (see below) and learn about why people go to Church, which is a house of God where people gather. The gathering place for God’s Family is the Church.

Explain to your child that just as people at home have jobs to do, there are jobs that people do at Church (e.g. reading, collecting money, and singing in the choir).

Once you have looked the power point, I would like you to have a go at drawing and labelling the features of Church together – font, altar, lectern, crucifix, candle etc.

Mental Health Week Activity:

Have a look at the selection of videos (click on the link below), which explain each feeling a young child may experience or feel. Discuss with an adult when you may have felt some of these feelings and what made you feel better/happier.
