English:

Today we are going to begin our learning on Growing and Planting. Our key text this week is Sam plants a sunflower. I would like you to watch the video below which will read the story to you.

After you have watched the story video, I would like you to have a go at drawing a simple story map to help you retell the story and sequence the steps Sam took.

Remember to keep it simple! You can add key words in if you would like to as well.

Phonics:

Please watch the RWI video clips below about how to read Green Word Time 1.5 words and how to spell them for writing. We have placed an exercise book in your home learning packs, which will help you to write the words in so you can see your progress and hard work.

Topic:

In our topic lesson today, I would like you to have a go at collaging or making a sunflower plant.

You can choose any material to collage / make your sunflower. For example, tissue paper, paint, crayons, felt tips, junk modelling objects, toys, or anything else you can think of!

Make sure you add the key parts of the sunflower – roots, stem, leaves, petals and seeds.

If you wish to send us a picture of your wonderful creations, please send them to our class email address and we can upload them on the class webpage!

RE:

Today for our RE lesson we are going to be beginning our next unit of work on Baptism.

I would like you to discuss with an adult who is in your family but also think about your broader families such as class family and school family. Our different families are all very important.

Then I would like you to read the Power point on Baptism (see below) with an adult and explore how during a Baptism we are welcomed as members of God’s family. The power point will explain the key features of what happens and used during a Baptism.

With an adult, I want you to discuss your first name because at a Baptism, you are given a first name and God has called each of us by name. This first name is your Christian name because we belong to the family of God through Baptism.

I would then like you to draw your first name and decorate it with things that bring you joy, things that you love and things that are special to you.
