English:

Please watch the YouTube video of the story Handa's Surprise. (see link below)

I would like you to have a go at innovating your story maps from last week by changing one fruit in the story. I want you to think of a different fruit, could be your favourite fruit, and swap it with a fruit from the Handa’s Surprise story.

Can you draw it and label it?

Phonics:

I would like you to have a go at completing one page in the Phonics book today.

Please remember to come and collect your home learning pack so you can complete this activity today.

Maths:

Today we are going to be learning about the mathematical concept of Time. We are going to focus our learning on time today on the sequence of steps we take in one day. What do we do first? What do we do next? What do we do at the end of the day?

I would like you to think of what you did yesterday. What did you do first after you got up? What did you do at lunchtime? What did you do in the afternoon? What did you do before you went to bed? Discuss this with an adult.

I want you to think about the key things you did throughout the day yesterday. Then, I would like you to draw a sequence of pictures to show what you did during your day. E.g. Get up, get dressed, had breakfast, did some schoolwork, had lunch, watched TV, played with my toys, had tea, went to bed. (This is just an example!)

Topic:

Today for our topic on Handa’s Surprise, I would like you to have some fun with paints and fruit!

I would like you to use fruit you have in the house or fruit from the story, if you can get them from the shops, to cut in half and explore what they look like on the inside. Do they have seeds? Are they different colours on the inside? Did you expect it to look like that?

Once you have explored the inside of the fruits, I would like you to have a go at printing the fruit onto paper. Simply place the fruit halves into paint and print it onto paper. See what imaginative and creative picture you could create using the fruits and paint!
