Wednesday 6th January 2021

Our key text over the next 3 weeks is Handa's Surprise. I have attached a YouTube link below which will take you to the story which will be read to you. Please familiarise yourself with this story as we will be doing lots of activities linked to it.

English:

Please watch the YouTube video of the story Handa's Surprise. (see link below)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ocnRQi89nK8

I would like you to have a go at drawing a fruit/animal from the story that is your favourite. Then, I want you to label the name of the fruit/animal using your phonic knowledge. You could also try to write a sentence as to why you like that fruit/animal.

Maths:

Please watch the Cbeebies video clip about number 11. (see link below)

https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m000266y/numberblocks-series-3-eleven

I would like you to have a go at writing the number 11, using the number rhyme - a line down and it's done, it's number one, and repeat again.

Then I would like you to have a go at making the number 11 in different ways, e.g. 10 + 1 = 11, 9 + 2 = 11, 8 + 3 = 11 etc. Can you put this into a part-whole model to show the whole number (11) and then the two numbers/parts it can be broken into (10+1 etc.)

Phonics:

Please watch the RWI video clips below about how to read Green Word Time 1.2 words and how to spell them for writing. We have placed a exercise book in your home learning packs which will help you to write the words in so you can see your progress and hard work.

Work Books:

There is a home learning pack available for your child which is located in the main school office. Inside there are two work books and name writing cards with writing tools for you to use.

I would like you to have at go at completing one page in either of the books today.
