Summer 2
English
In our English lessons we will be using Alice in Wonderland to write an adventure story, an advertisement leaflet and a poem.
We are learning how to use characterisation and how to interest the reader in our writing, as well as working on our handwriting to earn our pen licences!
Spellings for Summer 2
Spellings are glued into planners on a Wednesday to be tested the following Wednesday. Please encourage the children to learn the letter patterns and practise their handwriting at the same time.
Guided Reading
In Guided Reading this half term, we are continuing studying the novel How To Train Your Dragon. We will be looking at characters and inference in the book, but also answering comprehension questions based on these using our VIPERS scheme.
Maths
In our maths lessons this half term we are learning about:
- Money
- Mass, Length & Volume
- Area
- Geometry
- Position & Movement
Science
In Science, we are studying Scientists and Investigations. The children are learning about Alexander Graham Bell, Thomas Edison, floating and sinking, and pitch through investigations and research.
Geography
In Geography, we are learning about South America. We will explore which countries make up this continent, what human and physical features it has and how it compares to the UK.
