English:

Please watch the YouTube video of the story Handa's Surprise. (see link below)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ocnRQi89nK8

I would like you to have a go at writing two sentences to describe one animal from the story. If you would like to describe more than one animal that is fine too! When watching the video of the story look out for the features of the animals – colour, size, shape, facial features etc. Then have a go at writing two sentences to describe them. You can choose to draw your chosen animal too and label the features that you have written about.

For example, The zebra is black and white. / The zebra has stripes. / The zebra has pointy ears.

Remember to use your phonics to help you spell and write your sentences, as well as finger spaces between words, capital letters at the beginning, and a full stop at the end of each sentence.

Phonics:

Please watch the RWI video clips below about how to read Green Word Time 1.4 words and how to spell them for writing. We have placed an exercise book in your home learning packs, which will help you to write the words in so you can see your progress and hard work.

Please remember to come and collect your home learning pack so you can complete this activity today.

I would also like you to log onto Numbots (See link below) and have a go at playing in Story Mode. This is a great online game for you to practice your counting, addition and subtraction skills!

Topic:

Today for our lesson based on the key text Handa’s Surprise, I would like you to learn more about the animals in the story.

I would like you to use Google/an online search website, to research an animal of your choice from the story – you can choose more than one if you like!

I would like you to learn about the features of your chosen animal, where it lives, what it eats, does it have babies – what do they look like etc.

This lesson will tie in with the English lesson above and will help you to write simple sentences of your chosen animal. J
