Spring Week 8 w.b.01/03/21

Welcome to our last week of remote learning. Keep working hard this week. We are looking forward to seeing you back in school on Monday 8th March. 

We've got lots to look forward to this week first though, including World Maths Day on Wednesday and World Book Day on Thursday. 

 

If you haven't received your special St. Joseph's teddy or your World Book Day pack yet, ask your family if someone can collect it from school for you before Thursday.

Weekly challenges

Remember - Activities to be completed every day

  • Read for at least 20 minutes. This could be a school or home reading book, a story online or a magazine.
  • Play TimesTables Rockstars or Numbots for 15- 20 minutes. Make sure you play on both sites throughout the week.  
  • Complete at least 20-30 minutes exercise. See the PE page for some ideas.

 

This week's lessons

The work below is compulsory and must be completed each week. 

Monday 1st March

1. We start our week as always with our Gospel Assembly. Click on the link below to list to Mrs Hannett reflect on Sunday's Gospel. 
2. Lent Open

3. English - In this lesson, we will think about the snacks we eat and why we like them. We will look at an advert advertising an unhealthy snack, then think about healthy alternatives. Then, we will think of our own healthy snack and write a persuasive sentence about the snack we have designed.

4. Maths - Today we are going to be applying all that we have learnt in this unit and practise answering different styles of questions.

5. Science - In this lesson we will be looking at what objects magnets are attracted to. You will need a magnet and a selection of objects (if you don't have one please don't worry)

6. PE -  Click on the links below to join in with dance warm up and lesson 5.

Tuesday 2nd March

1. Lent Open

2. English -  In this lesson, we will be further practising and applying knowledge of the rules used when adding the suffix -er and -est.

Music - join Miss Ridley in this James Bond drumming session

3. Maths - Complete one of the maths challenges

4. French - Click the link and learn a little more about describing yourself

5. Chose your favourite Joe Wikes workout to take part in

Wednesday 3rd March - World Maths Day

1. Lent Open

2. English -  In this lesson, we will recap comparatives and superlatives. You will find alliteration, rhyme, adjectives and slogans.

3. Maths - have some fun completing some of the maths day activities 

Thursday 4th March - World Book Day

1. Lent Open

2. English - In this lesson, we will explore complex sentences and subordinating conjunctions.

3. World book day - have fun completing some of the World book day activities 

Friday 5th March

1. Lent Open

2. English - In this lesson, we will use our knowledge of the features of advertisements to write our own advert for the healthy snack we designed.

3. Maths - Have a go at some measure word problems 

4. Geography- In this lesson, we will be learning about the four regions of Europe: Central Uplands, Western Uplands, North European Plain and Alpine Mountains. You will also learn about the tallest mountain in Europe and also the important rivers that divide up Europe.

5. RE - Learn about the story of the Widow of Nain and think about how Jesus changed people's lives.
