Tuesday 9th February 2021

Tuesday 9th February 2021

English:

Today we are going to continue our learning about Chinese New year.

I would like you to read the story (see below) which is about a family who celebrates Chinese New Year.

When you have listened to and read the story, I would like you to write a wish of your own to keep in your home.

You may wish to draw/make a wishing tree of your own this week and then you can add your wishes on it – you may even want to make a wish each day and add it to your tree!

Remember to use your phonics to help you write your wishes. J

Phonics:

Please watch the RWI video clips below about how to read Green Word Time 1.7 words and how to spell them for writing. We have placed an exercise book in your home learning packs, which will help you to write the words in so you can see your progress and hard work.

There is no spelling video but I would like you to have a go at writing some of the words mentioned in the reading video.

Maths:

I would like you to have a go at completing one page in the maths book today.

Please remember to come and collect your home learning pack so you can complete this activity today.

I would also like you to log onto Numbots (See link below) and have a go at playing in Story Mode. This is a great online game for you to practice your counting, addition and subtraction skills!

Topic:

Today for our topic lesson on Chinese New Year, I would like you to make a Chinese Dragon. You can do this by drawing, painting, using junk modelling, toys, playdough etc.

Use what you have learnt from the story above, the examples below and also from the Video below which will show you what the dragons look like in real life.

Try and make your Chinese dragons as colourful as you can!

Remember to send us a picture of your Chinese dragon so we can ‘Shout about it’ on the class webpage!

Music:

For our music lesson today, I would like you to watch the video (see link below) and watch Miss Ridley teach you how to use your body and create body percussion. Have fun!

Internet Safety Day:

Today is Internet Safety Day and we are going to listen/read a story all about Digi Duck and how he keeps safe online. Please read the story with an adult.

Then I would like you to create a simple poster to remind you to stay safe online.

Please send us a photo of your posters and we can ‘Shout Out’ them on our class webpage!
